$350 chromebook vs $350 windows notebook

I'm looking for a cheap laptop with a full HD 15" screen that will remain fast for a long time. Not doing much with it other than internet browsing with lots of tabs and watching 1080 youtube/netflix video, plus maybe a very small amount of light gaming

I like the idea of the simplicity of Chromebooks, but I'm not sure I want to limit myself software wise if the speed difference isn't worth it

I dont really care about the updates and less virus protection with windows, the only really benefits i see to Chromebooks are the speed and simplicity

So my question is, how significant is the speed difference of Chromebooks such as ASUS 315 or ASUS C523, vs windows laptops such as ASUS Vivobooks and Acer Aspire notebooks, that go for a similar price and specs
