Chrome Makes it Easy to View Permissions for Your Extensions

Google Chrome is working on a new widget that gives you quick access to extensions and their permissions from the toolbar.

Extensions Menu Access Control

A new flag named Extensions Menu Access Control showed up in the Canary channel of Google Chrome a while ago. However, it became functional only recently.

When you enable this flag and restart Chrome you will see a new icon that looks like an eye on your Chrome toolbar.

Clicking this new eye icon brings up the extension access control menu. I don’t think it is fully functional yet. However, for now, you can see a list of extensions and their permissions.

From a privacy point of view, this is a welcome move. Another, quicker, way to view extensions and their permissions. However, it needs to do more than show permissions to deserve a permanent spot on my Chrome toolbar.

I hope to see this menu evolving into something more useful. What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below.
