Chrome Omnibox Share Menu Simplified With a ‘+’

Google is working on a simplified version of the share menu from Omnibox (address bar). We now have a ‘+,’ which opens a sub-menu with more options.

The New Plus Menu?

I do not know what Google is going to call this menu yet. For now, this is the “Plus Menu”.

The plus menu appears right next to the bookmark icon (star) on the addressbar.

When you click this icon, our plus menu appears.

This new menu brings a few Google Chrome features together. You have the good old Copy link option (wait, but we didn’t have an icon for it, correct?), followed by a QR code, an option to save the page, and finally, Cast.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more options in this menu. Eventually, Google could allow Chrome extenions to add items here.

From these options, I use Cast frequently. I occasionally use Send to your device to share links. QR code? Not much.

As Chrome keeps adding new features to the browser and Chrome OS, any move to streamline and simplify the UI is appreciated.

Do you feel the same way, or should Chrome be working on not adding many options to menu in the first place. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Let me know in the comments section below.
