Chrome to Fetch Retail Discount Coupons For Users

I have written a lot of articles about Google Chrome’s effort to help you shop smarter. There are shopping carts, price tracking, and more. We are yet to see everything working together, but, here is the next feature in this series. Discount coupon codes.

Enable to fetch for retail coupons

Here is the experimental Chrome flag the Google Chrome team added to Chromium Gerrit today:

Enable to fetch for retail coupons: Allow to fetch retail coupons for consented users

I am waiting for the flag to appear in the Canary channel and test it. However, for now, I can give you an additional piece of information. It looks like Chrome will fetch coupon codes for items you have saved in your shopping cart.

You will see the coupon name or description along with the discount percentage in the notification.

You can see more coupon-related code changes here.

Summary

I am waiting to see Google’s shopping-related features working together. If you currently use Chrome extensions to help you find discounts, this will be a welcome addition for you. However, if you are like me and do not use any such tools currently, this is the opportunity to give it a try.

What do you think about this new shopping feature? Let me know in the comments section below.
