My phone's chrome is at version 91, hence I was recently able to disable tab groups and google lens (hence I can reverse image search normally again). Grid view is still there being a menace, but just removing that other two has helped immensely, particularly since tab groups was causing a lot of lag and preventing me from accessing a number of tabs.
This is less functional than what is was before the age of grid view, but much more functional than with google lens and tab groups. And I want to keep it that way.
How do absolutely ensure chrome never updates? At the moment, the reason I haven't updated past 91 seems to be because I've disabled google play store in the apps section. But are there any other assurances/actions to further prevent any updates? Are there any risks of google play store suddenly re-enabling itself and starting its stupid automatic updates?
Or is what I've done sufficient?
I just want to make sure I don't lose this functionality I've regained.
EDIT: To clarify, I was actually at a version that didn't even have grid view for a while, but my phone re-enabled google play store without my notice and grabbed that terrible update, and it's been a bother for months.
It hasn't done that again, and I don't know how it happened, but I want to make sure as much as possible that google play store never reactivates. Or at the very least, no update ever touches my current Chrome.
