Stylus Support Coming to Chrome for Android

Google Chrome for Android is getting support for a stylus to write on web pages.

Stylus Support for Chrome

I have used Samsung S Pen with the OG Galaxy Note. My assumption was that Chrome supports the stylus on Android. The new Chrome flag I spotted in Chromium Gerrit today says otherwise.

Stylus input: If enabled, and on an appropriate platform, this feature will allow the user to input text using a stylus. This is available on Samsung devices that come with an S Pen, and on Android T+ devices. The stylus writing feature will have to be enabled in Android settings as well.

That is a long description for a Chrome flag. There is enough information for you to prepare for this new feature. Well, if you have an Android phone with a stylus.

I am not writing this article with 100% confidence. If you are already using a stylus with Chrome on Android, feel free to drop me a message in the comments field below.

If this is the first time Google adding official stylus support to Chrome, it is indeed a big deal, at least for Android tablets. I do not think there are many Android phones other than the Galaxy Note family that comes with a stylus.

Is Google preparing this feature for Android tablets? What do you think?
